Heritage Halls

Heritage Halls is a Dormitory at Brigham Young University. It consists of 24 buildings, listed below. Built in 1953, Heritage Halls are the oldest dorms on campus. It is located on the East side of campus [1]. Students that live in the halls attend the 4th Stake on Brigham Young University campus. The living arrangements in Heritage are similar to those of an apartment.

There are 3 on campus dorms and apartments, Heritage Halls, Heleman Halls, and Wyview Park. Deseret Towers, the fourth and oldest of the dormitory complexes was closed summer of 2007 and scheduled for demolition. BYU also has a Foreign Language Student Residence for students who desire immersion into a multicultural experience.

There are 24 individual living buildings, as well as a main building. They each are named after a famous woman, and assigned a letter. They include:

  • Gates Hall (Emma Gates and Susa Young Gates)
  • Harris Hall (Estella Spillsbury Harris)
  • Horne Hall (Alice Merrill Horne)
  • Kimball Hall
  • Maeser Hall (Anna Meith Maeser)
  • Penrose Hall (Romania Pratt Penrose)
  • A. Richards Hall (Alice Robinson Richards)
  • E. Richards Hall (Emily S. Richards)
  • Robinson Hall (Louise Yates Robinson)
  • Rogers Hall (Aurelia Spencer Rogers)

Heritage Halls was originally a women-only dorm. Now, 9 dorms are for men and 15 for women.
