Heretic II is a fantasy third-person shooter computer game developed by Raven Software and published by Activision in 1998 continuing the story of Corvus, the main character from its predecessor, Heretic.

Using a modified Quake II engine, the game features a mix of a third-person camera with a first-person shooter's action, making for a new gaming experience at the time. While progressive, this was a controversial design decision among fans of the original title[citation needed], a well-known first-person shooter built on the Doom engine.

The score was composed by Kevin Schilder. The art design and some of the artwork itself were created by Gerald Brom.

Heretic II was later ported to Linux by Loki Software and to the Amiga by Hyperion Entertainment.

Corvus, the hero who saved Parthoris from D'sparil (the first and weakest of the three Serpent Riders), is now involved in another quest to save his homeland. After the defeat of D'sparil, the peoples who inhabit Parthoris are being decimated by a mysterious plague, a disease that is killing many and driving others insane. Corvus, back in his town, Silverspring (the "City of the Damned" from the original Heretic game), where the Sidhe live, discovers that his own people are inflicted. They attack him and each other. The city is lost.

Corvus escapes from Silverspring, but not without being infected himself. He crosses the swamps leading to Andoria, a town inhabited by the Ssithra, a civilized amphibian race who are also infected. Siernan, a medic and alchemy expert who is highly regarded by his people knows how to cure the disease but cannot reach the ingredients himself. Corvus is temporarily safe from the effects of the plague due to his Tome of Power, so Siernan tells the hero to find the ingredients to be used to brew a healing potion. The potion ultimately doesn't cure Corvus because his anatomy is too different from that of the Ssithra. Corvus must continue on.

Corvus then reaches the K'chekrik hive, inhabited by a race of giant insects, where he must face many of them. Siernan told Corvus that the K'chekrik are immune, and that their leader knows all sorts of magic. Corvus assumes that the K'chekrik attack him out of general xenophobia. Corvus fights the K'chekrik queen and after she is defeated, Corvus learns that the K'chekrik are not immune, that the queen is having difficultly warding off the plague, and that only Morcalavin, the Seraph (one of the Sidhe's mythical forefathers) who created it can bring it to an end. The queen creates a portal which takes Corvus to the Ogle Mines, after which Corvus reaches the World's End Mountains, which holds the Cloud Fortress, Morcalavin's lair.

Corvus learns that Morcalavin, one of the ancient Seraphs who once ruled Parthoris, is trying to reach immortality by using the seven Tomes of Power. One of the tomes has been falsified because Corvus was carrying it. Use of this false tome is what has caused Morcalavin to become mad, to create the disease and spread it throughout the continent. Corvus and Morcalavin fight, and after a great duel the hero manages to replace the fake tome with his own, correcting the spell, bringing an end to Morcalavin's madness, and stopping the plague. Parthoris is safe once again.
