Herbert Silvester Hargreaves was a first class cricketer who played 19 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1934 and 1938. He also appeared for Yorkshire Second XI between 1934 and 1938 and the Minor Counties in 1937.
Born on March 22, 1912 at Cinder Hill, Shireoaks in Yorkshire, he died on September 29, 1990 at Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.
A fine right arm fast medium bowler, he took 59 wickets at just 21.2 with a best of 5 for 93 against Kent CCC. He had no pretensions as a tail order batsman, scoring just 53 runs at 3.31 with a best of 9.
His son, John Hargreaves, played minor county cricket for Suffolk, including a Gillette Cup match in 1966.
