Herbert Allen, Jr is an American businessman and the head of investment boutique Allen & Company.
He keeps a low profile and his annual retreat Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference gathers a lot of attention from the media elite. He claims that his fund has had returns of more than 40% a year since mid-1980s.
He is a 1962 graduate of Williams College and a prominent donor to that school.
Divorced with 4 children, he has an estimated current net worth of around $1.9 billion, and is ranked by Forbes as the 410-richest person in the world.
