Margaret Thatcher's memoirs "The Downing Street Years" (Harper Collins, 1993) have a slightly different account of the events of 31st March 1982. In particular, it says that Sir Henry Leach was in civilian dress on the evening in question, and was briefly detained in the Central Lobby of the House of Commons while on his way to a meeting that had been called by Margaret Thatcher at the request of John Nott.
