The summary judgements of the three Bech novels are not neutral, I think. 64.148.160.57 05:41, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

They do not need to be neutral. Since Bech is a fictional character his novels are likewise fictional; Updike's description of the works is authoratative.

[edit] Wikimelville Prize

While not writing, Bech spends his time travelling to foreign countries as a cultural ambassador, speaking at colleges, womanizing, and worrying.

I'd like to nominate this sentence for the fictious Wikimelville Prize for pithiest apropos commentary :-)
