I think it should be mentioned that Goodwin took some of the best pre-hollywood portrait photos of Greta Garbo. His 1924 photos capture Garbo, a fledgling Swedish actress on the brink of international fame & fortune (In 1924 she was in her 1st vehicle, Gosta Berlin Saga which brought her to the attention of L.B. Mayer). The transformation from these early pictures is remarkable.
- I don't know whether they're the best. If you want to add something on these portraits, you'd need a source for that assessment, and phrase it like "according to XYZ, Goodwin's 1924 portraits of Greta Garbo are ..." You might also want to take a look at Category:Henry B. Goodwin. :-) Lupo 16:20, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for the tip! Yes, that assessment is all mine :-) More important I think is that there is no mention of his Garbo portraits or any other important people he photographed. For instance, Arnold Genthe at least gets credit in his bio.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genthe >>"His photos of Greta Garbo were credited with boosting her career."
I have found the following citation which credits Goodwin under "Creating The Myth" http://www.nationalmuseum.se/NMTemplates/NMSingleExhibition____3594.aspx
Is really enough just to say, "he worked as a professional photographer with his own studio." ???
- I agree the article could be improved, but I don't have any better sources on Goodwin. If you can dig up better sources (maybe by visiting a library and getting real books on him), feel free to edit the article. It's a wiki! Anyone can edit. Lupo 08:12, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
