[edit] Cleanup

This could use some additional wikification (including names of journals that may have articles), consistency in the use of italics, and references. Katr67 21:22, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

To the anon who removed the cleanup tag: An editor requesting that an article be cleaned up by using a cleanup tag does not mean that the editor is homophobic. Far from it actually. You really don't know what you're talking about. Oh well, I'll leave the tag off and do the cleanup myself at some point. The content of the article is fine, it's the formatting that needs a little work. Yeesh. Katr67 15:29, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
After briefly reviewing the article, my primary concenrn is with the lack of verifiable references. The only ref the article currently has is provided by a members-only website. Ideally we should provide multiple refs which would be accdessible to anyone. I'll get back to this later today and try to add some myself. In the meantime, it would be worthwhile to assume good faith...I happen to know that Katr67 is a good editor who strives for accuracy and balance. Doc Tropics 14:50, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

I took care of most of the formatting issues I was concerned about. (Note I did not remove any content.) There are still some minor issues with the consistency of punctuation and such in the list of works sections, but I'll wait to clean those up until we decide the fate of the sections. (See below). [edit] Publications

While it seems appropriate to list all of the author's published books, as well as the "Stories and novel fragments", I think the entire section of "Articles and reviews" can, and probably should, be deleted. Many writers publish so many short pieces of this nature that it would never be possible to list them all, nor is it desireable to do so. I don't see a need to include this kind of info unless one of the articles he wrote is somehow notable in its own right. That's my thought on the subject, but I won't make any changes until others have a chance to comment on the issue. Doc Tropics 18:18, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

The reference that I added has a complete list of his publications (probably where the list came from) - we could just leave it at that? I agree that most authors have many of these, and most are not particularly notable. akendall 18:23, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
I would tend to agree. The list of publications does serve to reinforce Alley's notability, but I think it would be better to work on finding additional references that serve the same purpose. Perhaps some of these references are available on the Internet? It's OK to reference print-only sources, but having some Internet links would help establish notability for those of us without access to a university library. And yes, judging by the formatting issues, it looks like the list was copied and pasted from the above-mentioned list. Katr67 18:30, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
I think the link is a great compromise between keeping the info available, and keeping the page length reasonable. I would support the change, and also agree that more references or links can't hurt. Doc Tropics 18:32, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
