An average non Norwegian reader will be much confused by the information that the celebration of the national day was forbidden by the authorities, not being aware that the authorities represented the Swedish king of Norway. This should be explained.

I've proposed on the talk pages of Wikiproject Norway, and the Norwegian articles (bokmål and nynorsk) that we jointly push to bring this article to Featured article status by Wergeland's birthday. The Norwegian versions are much better than this, so we have some material to work with.
