From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Henry Shaw (May 21, 1854 — November 8, 1932) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm roundarm medium pace bowler who played for Derbyshire between 1875 and 1884. Shaw was born in Mansfield and died in Derby.
Shaw first played in a county match between Derbyshire and Kent in 1875, and played semi-regularly in the first team between 1875 and 1881. He returned for one further match in 1884, which Derbyshire lost by an innings margin. He was not to return as a player until 1890, when he played one fixture for Lincolnshire and one for Staffordshire two years later.
Shaw was employed as a publican, having previously worked as a painter on Midland Counties Railway. Shaw later played for Lincolnshire and Staffordshire in miscellaneous matches. Shaw later umpired over 20 first-class cricket matches in the County Championship in the early part of the 20th century.
