Henry Schein Inc. is a Fortune 500 company based in Melville, New York. It is a distributor of healthcare products and services primarily to office-based healthcare practitioners in the North American and European markets. The Company operates in two business segments. The healthcare distribution segment consists of the Company's dental, medical (including veterinary) and international groups. Under the healthcare distribution segment, products distributed by Henry Schein, Inc. include consumable products, small equipment, laboratory products, large equipment, branded and generic pharmaceuticals, vaccines, surgical products, diagnostic tests, infection control products and vitamins. The technology segment provides software, technology and other value-added services to healthcare providers, primarily in the United States and Canada. During the year ended December 31, 2005, the Company acquired the dental products distribution business of Ash Temple Limited, and Demedis Group's business in Austria, which operates under the Austrodent brand.
Sullivan-Schein Dental is the U.S. dental business unit of Henry Schein, Inc. In 2008, it was decided to leverage the Henry Schein corporate image by having one global name, Henry Schein Inc.
