Henry Luke Paget
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Henry Luke Paget was the 4th Anglican Bishop of Stepney from 1909[1] until 1919 when he was appointed Bishop of Chester[2]. He was born in 1853 [3] and educated at Shrewsbury and Christ Church, Oxford before embarking on an ecclesiastical career with a Curacy at Leeds. The happiest period of this career, he stated, was at an East End mission to the poor[4]. After an Incumbency at St Ives, Cambridgeshire and a brief spell as Suffragan Bishop of Ipswich he was Translated to Stepney in 1909, a post he held until promotion to Diocese of Chester a decade later.
