Henry Kenny

Henry Kenny (7 September 191325 September 1975) was an Irish Fine Gael politician and a Gaelic footballer who won an All-Ireland medal with the Mayo inter-county team in 1936.

Kenny was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1954 General Election as a Fine Gael TD. He remained a Fine Gael TD until his death from cancer on 25 September 1975.

His son, Enda Kenny, was elected to the Dáil as his replacement in the by-election in 1975. Kenny Jnr. went on to join the Cabinet of John Bruton in 1994 as Minister for Trade & Tourism. He is currently the leader of Fine Gael.
