Henriques family
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Henriques family, prominent Sephardic Jewish benefactors in the 19th century, is of Portuguese Jewish descent. A firm Henriques Brothers, West-Indian merchants, existed in the 1800s[1]. It is not clear when the Henriques family migrated to England, but the middle name Quixano stems apparently from the marriage of Moses Henriques and Abigail Quixano, daughter of Abraham Quixano.[2]. The family ancestor was one Duarte Henriques.
Members of the family include
- Basil Henriques, British philanthropist
- Robert Henriques, British novelist
- Sean Paul, Jamaican singer and dancehall artist; born Sean Paul Henriques
