Henri Coulette

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Henri Coulette (1927 - 1988) was an American poet. While his first book, The War of the Secret Agents and Other Poems (Scribner, 1965), was greeted with acclaim, his second, The Family Goldschmitt (Scribner, 1971), seems to have received little attention. In fact, it has been reported that much of the first edition was accidentally pulped. He did not publish another book during his life, though Donald Justice and Robert Mezey prepared a collected edition, including a wealth of new poems, in 1990 at the University of Arkansas Press.

Works:

  • The War of the Secret Agents and Other Poems (Scribner, 1965)
  • The Family Goldschmitt (Scribner, 1971)
  • The Collected Poems of Henri Coulette, ed. by Donald Justice and Robert Mezey (Arkansas, 1990)
