Hemingby

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hemingby is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, about three miles north of the market town of Horncastle

It is surrounded by the villages of Baumber, Goulceby and West Ashby. The River Bain and its tributary the Hemingby beck flow through the village. It is just west of the junction of the B1225 and A158.

The parish church is dedicated to St. Margaret. The village pub is the former coaching inn, the Coach & Horses; (the 'coach' being the old Louth-to-Lincoln route).

There was (until 1978) also a Methodist chapel in the village: the building is being converted to a private house (February 2007). In April 2007, Radio Lincolnshire briefly changed its name to BBC Radio Hemingby on April 18 2007 for one day.
