Welcome to Wikipedia! In case you haven't already found them, some useful links are Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers, Wikipedia:Naming conventions, Wikipedia:Manual of Style, and Wikipedia:The perfect article. Most questions are answered at Wikipedia:Help; if you have a question not answered there, then you can post it to the Village pump.
A word of warning: when comments are posted, the raw text appears without vocal inflections or body language; the lack of these nonverbal cues tends to make the raw text appear to be more terse/rude than the sender actually intended. This is stating the obvious, but people seem to forget it in the heat of the moment. So my word of warning is this: don't be surprised if someone makes comments to you that seem unnecessarily brusque; and try not to take it personally. It is a side-effect of the medium.

Hi Hellboy1975, there are a few Wikipedia conventions you should be made aware of. Please review the Wikipedia:Manual of Style, and also check out the changes that I made to David Wm. Sims and Malcolm Blight. Cheers, Cyan 00:55, 2 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Hey, this is cassius from the Tool Army. Good to know more of us are involved here. I once considered posting about wikipedia on the TA main but am still debating about how that would go over. Peace. --Cassius987 18:30, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] soulseek
Hiya. Ive just created a new (and better, imo) userbox for soulseek and i thought is share it. you can look at it here. this new box allows you to share your soulseek username in the box itself. also, it adds your userpage to a category called "soulseek users". if you dont like the box but you want to be in the catergory just add [[Category: Soulseek users]]. anyhoo, just thought id let you know. -(chubbstar) — talk | contrib | 06:20, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Undertone (band)
A tag has been placed on Undertone (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, article #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Elomis 08:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Caves
Hope you agree - its one of those things that I think than should be careffully indicated that we are not listing things that makes them vulnerable to vandalism - we have had discussions in the wa project about this...SatuSuro 00:11, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that posting cave locations is a bad idea, but I personally don't agree that posting a list of caves is necessarily bad. Protecting caves from vandalism is best achieved by proper management, not denial of their existence. hellboy 00:17, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Very good point - one problem with vandalism in some locations in australia - govt depts or organisations would be hard pressed to keep a watch or lock out on some isolated locations - hence fossil theft from locations visisted only a couple of times ayear on some cases... so it goes...SatuSuro 00:21, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Big Day Out
- Please stop re-inserting Bjork. Bjork is not the reason the Big Day Out tickets sold out so quickly. Whether or not you or I like her is irrelevant. Simple searches on Google easily reveal that Rage Against the Machine were the main reason BDO tickets sold out so quickly. I mean, be honest, Bjork is not a well known artists in Australia, and of those who know her, a lot don't like the music. Insisting on keeping Bjork in that sentence is a joke, and seems like nothing more than a POV-pushing attempt at heightening her profile. I will continue to remove Bjork from this statement, as it is clearly false. 121.223.87.143 (talk) 11:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- As if playing at the Opera house means your well known - lot's of people perform there and no ones heard of them. Just because a sentence has existed on an article for ages, does not mean it cannot be removed - especially if it makes such a ridiculous claim. There is not one person on this planet who believe BDO tickets would have sold out so fast has RATM not been playing. I will keep removing Bjork, as it's blatantly false. 121.223.87.143 (talk) 00:08, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

-
- You're completely missing the point. This has nothing to do with Bjork, and everything to do with the fact you're not citing a source to justify the "ridiculous claim". What's more ridiculous is claiming that only one band is responsible for selling out the BDO's. Do you think that if RATM playing in a stadium with a capacity of 55,000 it would sell out? RATM are a great band, but they're not that popular... hellboy (talk) 00:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
