Talk:Helsinki University of Technology

Although I cleaned up the section, I still disagree with including a full list of the sähkö labs. Such lists are unencyclopedic. --Vuo 10:00, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Nice clean up work! Yeah i agree, there could be a separate article such as "list of labs at TKK" containing all the labs available, just having the sähkö ones is wrong, especially as sähkö is not superior to many other programmes study and research at TKK, which the article gives the feeling of. The main article could contain the list of departments though. Maybe even the centres of excellence could even make it into the main article(?)

[edit] TKK history

I think we should write a more comprehensive history here. The history of TKK reflects the whole history of Finnish engineering profession. Especially the improvement of research activities in 1950's should be brought out. The work of Professor Laurila and Academician Jauho was instrumental in this. Another point which should be mentioned in the section is the relation of language-strife and other political strives about the nature of engingeering education. --MPorciusCato 10:55, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Faculty vs. department

The article tells currently that there are twelve faculties, but those are not really faculties and they are called departments ('osasto' in Finnish) by the university. One could say there is currently only one faculty, faculty of science. As the matter of fact, the university is considering a large organisational change, where the university would be divided into three faculties, each having several departments, correlating with the departments in other universities, which are called 'laitos' in Finnish (the current departments are somewhat larger than departments of other universities). The new system will probably be in effect from the start of 2008. --Elmo Allen 19:22, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Otaniemi - the only campus?

Is Otaniemi the only campus in Finland? At least Tampere University of Technology has its premises and the student housing all in the same area. How do you define campus? --MPorciusCato (talk) 17:52, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:TKK-logo.png

Image:TKK-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The use of the image in this article is very valid fair use. I addressed the concern and put the rationale there. --MPorciusCato (talk) 06:38, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rivarly

Which is the better university of technology in Finland for academic researchers and/or the students: Helsinki or Tampere? 82.131.210.162 (talk) 14:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

I doubt anyone really thinks TKK would not be the premiere university of technology in Finland. So go troll elsewhere ;) Gillis (talk) 16:02, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
