Ringsdorf is a highly cited scientist. I don't know the number of research papers (must be more than 400), thus I did not include a number in the biography. His achievements in the field of polymer science justify his being mentionned in Wikipedia.

Rumor has that he has been nominated for the Noble prize in Chemistry (also not citable in Wikipedia, since no public information).
