The idea to edit this article out of its former stubby character was born some years ago based on a conversation with a California Department of Fish and Game warden who told us of the peculiar hydrologic history of Hell Hole. We were pulling the canoe out of the lake at the time.

We were drawn to the lake because of its name; little impressed at our first view of it but were stunned by its extraordinary beauty as we navigated the upper reaches of this watercourse.

The article is a work-in-progress, awaiting some additional research. - Gregory Kubelek —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.52.142.4 (talk) 23:07, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
