[edit] EraserGirl comments

I was perturbed by the vagueness and inaccuracies of the original article and decided to incorporate my research into the article, instead of creating a parallel & conflicting website.

According to the 1900 US census for Cleveland Ohio, Rose Wegner was reported to have been born in 1891. But since this is the only reference to that date, I have chosen to ignore it. It may well have been a mistake by the census taker.

Many references to Helen Gibson, contain incorrect information. Much of it can be blamed on Anthony Slide's Early American Cinema, New York, A. S. Barnes & Co., 1970, where he erroneously reports her birthdate, her name and the date of her divorce. Many books referencing this work have compound the error. Almost all references have two or more sources and whenever possible I have correlated that data with her own words or actual ephemera such as show programs. [edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers assessment

This article is well on its way to a good article rating. Mostly what I noticed was the need for some minor style clean up (consistency of reference placement & spacing), a bibliography of the works cited in the referencing, adherence to subheading formats, improper use of the first name only (one name should probably be used consistently throughout, it goes back and forth between Rose and Helen, perhaps an earlier detail explaining she worked under her given name, rather than having it slipped in with the rechristening later).

While I didn't consider it in the assessment, I did notice an issue in the continuity of the article vs. the subheadings. I would consider breaking apart the "Leading lady" section, with the first couple of paragraphs in a new section about her early film and stunt work. There is a paragraph in the earlier section, Rodeo riding, which begins "When the Miller-Arlington Show suddenly closed...", which could be moved down to open the the new section, placed prior to Leading lady. Those are simply my suggestions, though.

The article is coming along very nicely. Wildhartlivie (talk) 00:22, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] References

There is a discrepancy in the references section: Lahue is given as 1964 in "Notes" but 1969 in the bibliography. Which is correct? --Red Sunset 23:13, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
