[edit] First Husband and Origin of "Lenoir" Name

Diana Burleigh's article indicates that Helen picked up the "Lenoir" name as a stage name. Also, the Whistler page is the only time I've ever seen her mentioned as having a prior husband to D'Oyly Carte. Are they not possibly mistaking her husband's death for the death of Richard D'Oyly Carte's first wife? It would be an unusual coincidence for both to lose their spouses the same year. --Anivron 06:59, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Gilbert and Sullivan and Their Operas by Cellier and Bridgeman states on page 413, "...Mrs. Carte, or more correctly at this point to call her by the name which became hers by a second marriage in 1902, Mrs. Stanley Carr Boulter, passed away on Monday, May 5, 1913." I think this is enough evidence if Diana can't recall which source was used. --Anivron 18:15, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] On Meeting Richard D'Oyly Carte

There's an interesting story behind her meeting Richard that I recall hearing in Pemberton's "A Disagreeable Man". If someone could find the source he obtained the anecdote from, then we could include it. --Anivron 06:59, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
