Baron Helmuth von Maltzahn (1840 – 1923) was President of the Prussian province of Pomerania in Stettin and a representative in the Reichstag.
Helmuth Ludwig Wilhelm of Maltzahn was born in Gültz in Demmin (he carried the noble title of "baron" from 1875). After finishing school he studied law in Berlin.[1] He began his career as an assessor, but in 1867 he decided to dedicate himself to the administration of his own estate. In the years 1868 to 1872 he built Schloss Gültz, a monor house in the classical style.
He took an active part in the war of 1870–71. In 1871 he became a member of the Reichstag for the constituency of Anklam-Demmin,[1] and was made chairman of the household committee. From 1888 to 1893, he was Finance Minister of the empire. In 1900 he took over the task of president of the province of Pomerania in Stettin and held this office until 1911.
