Helix aperta, commonly known as the green snail, is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Helicidae, the typical snails.
This species is sometimes known as Cantareus aperta.

This species is native to Europe primarily near the Mediterranean Sea, and also North Africa. It has also been introduced to other areas, including Australia.
