Helitours

Helitours is one of the defunct airlines of Sri Lanka. It was a domestic airline operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force with aircraft not required for operational use.

The service started in 1972 as an idea of Air Martial Mendis to cater to the tourist. By the end of 1972 Helitours was flying to Male also. In 1973 a Convair 440 was purchased second hand from Eastern Airlines USA, to boost HELITOURS operations between Ceylon and the Maldives.
