Heliodrom camp

Heliodrom camp was Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosnia run concentration camp during the Bosnian War.
Located in Rodoc, just south of Mostar, Heliodrom camp operated between September 1992 and April 1994. In consisted of a sports hall and a three-storey central prison building. Heliodrom's population fluctuated through the war with a maximum of about 6,000 detainees held at any one time. The population was made up of Bosniak and Serbian civilians, and Bosnian prisoners of war. Croatian criminals were also held here and were encouraged to beat and torture Bosnian Muslims inmates.[1]
Also, through-out the war HVO commanders took detainees from the prison to the front lines for a forced labour and sometimes to use as human shields during attacks.[2]
