A helicopter transportable fuel cell a spherical fabric bladder contained within a metal frame, used to carry fuel by helicopter to and from remote locations, when ground fuel transport is unavailable or impractical.
The Fuel Easy® is an example of a helicopter transportable fuel cell. It is manufactured by SEI Industries Ltd. in Delta, British Columbia, Canada.
It consists of an external frame including self-supporting legs, as well as a spherical bladder contained within the frame. Six sizes are available, with fuel carrying capacities ranging from 180 to 1260 US gallons (680 to 4775 liters).
Depending on size, helicopter transportable fuel cell frames can be constructed using aluminum, steel, or steel. Internal bladders are made of a high-strength urethane fabric, assembled using fabric welding techniques such as radio-frequency welding.
Access ports with camlock fittings on the top and bottom allow for either top or bottom filling/emptying.
