Helgi Valdimarsson

Helgi Valdimarsson MD. (b. 1936), Professor of Immunology at the University of Iceland from 1981. Established the first Immunology laboratory of Iceland in 1983. Senior Lecturer at St Mary's Hospital Medical school, London, England 1975-1981 and visiting Professor at St. Mary’s 1981-1990. Former editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Immunology [1]. Visiting Professor at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, Department of Immunology 1991-1999. Published over 150 articles in international peer reviewed journals. Internationally best known for his work on psoriasis were he has received several research grants including European Commission Grant (1998-2002) and Fogarty [2] Scholarship in 2003.

He is the father-in-law of English humorist Tim Moore, and the father of Agnar Helgason and Asgeir Helgason.
