[edit] Foreign Language Department
Four foreign languages are taught at Helena High: French, German, Latin, and Spanish. Lance Dyrdahl is the Latin teacher. Spanish is taught by Sarah Van Stry, Linda Ringwald, Julie Pederson, and Danna Sinnott. Susan Bartels and Jane Mends both teach French, and Toni Person is the sole German teacher.

The science faculty at Helena High School consists of Doug Shenkle, Mike Smith, Jan Hill, Jim Schulz, Jay Veneziano, Dave Thennis, Missy Sampson, Julie Beaver, Rod Benson, Gerald McCarthy, and Sandy Wardell.

- Colin Meloy, the lead singer and songwriter for the Portland, Oregon, folk-rock band The Decemberists.
- Max Baucus, the Senior United States Senator from Montana graduated in 1959. [1]
- L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, enrolled at Helena High during his junior year
- Katie Deyerle, World Record holder in the Junior Female Freestyle division of the International Field Archery Association
