Helen Svensson Fletre

Helen Svensson Fletre (1909 – March 1987) was a American author and journalist born in Sweden. She was married to Lars Fletre of Voss, Norway.
Fletre handled translation and was a guide for the Chicago portion of Olav V of Norway's state visit to the United States in 1975. The visit was to celebrate 150 years of Norwegian emigration to America. Fletre served as a journalist for the Chicago Norwegian-American newspaper Vinland until it ceased publication.

Fletre met her husband while visiting Chicago, Illinois. Both Helen and Lars Fletre were prominent members of the Chicago Norwegian colony from 1954 when she and her husband settled there with their 3 children in Logan Square.
Fletre has 2 surviving children (5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
