Helen Smith (psychologist)

Helen Smith is a forensic psychologist in Knoxville, Tennessee who specializes in violent children and adults. She holds a PhD from the University of Tennessee and masters degrees from The New School for Social Research and the City University of New York. She has written The Scarred Heart: Understanding and Identifying Kids Who Kill and was writer and executive producer of Six, a documentary about violent teenagers and the inadequacies of the mental health and criminal justice system in dealing with them.

Dr. Smith is married to Glenn Reynolds, who often refers to her as 'the Instawife' on his well known weblog, Instapundit. Since September 2005, she has been writing on her own weblog, "Dr. Helen". She is also part of the Glenn and Helen Show, an irregular podcast by the two.

Dr. Smith received an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator after suffering a heart attack at age 37.[1] She works with medtees.com to raise awareness of the dangers of heart disease in women.
