Should this and Province of Hejaz be merged? Or at least cross-linked?iFaqeer | Talk to me! 22:51, Oct 22, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] northwest of Saudi Arabia?

From a map, I get the assumption that Hejaz is actually in west of Saudi Arabia, not its northwest (try to find Jeddah and Makkah). Should I correct? roozbeh 13:39, Jan 8, 2005 (UTC)

I don't think that Hejaz should be merged with, or put under Saudi Arabia or Western Saudi Arabian Provinces, because it is a historical entity, and it would be more confusing becuase the modern Saudi western provinces do not reflect the borders of the Hijaz in say, 1924. It's just a personal preference though... Adil June 27th, 2006 (BST)

I agree with Adil. Wikipedia has many comparable examples like this; for example, there are separate articles on Palestine (the historical region), the State of Palestine and Palestinian National Authority (modern political entities), and the Palestinian territories (a modern subdivision of historic Palestine).
