Heinrich Ernst Schirmer (1814–1887) was an architect working in Norway, although being born and having studied in Germany.

His most notable achievement was starting the work of restoring the Nidaros Cathedral, which was in ruins at that time. After preliminary investigations from 1841, the drawings were finished in 1845, and the work started in 1869.
