Heidesheim is a municipality on the left bank of the river Rhine in the district of Mainz-Bingen in the east of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The municipality divides into the two settlements Heidenfahrt and Uhlerborn. Together with the municipality Wackernheim it forms the Verbandsgemeinde Heidesheim am Rhein.

As of 2003 Heidesheim has a population of 7,377, and covers and area of 17.56 km².

Similar to many German villages and small towns, Heidesheim is home to many associations, clubs and groups, in German known as "Vereine". They are a major part of civil life and cover many aspects of people's leisure time:

1. Sports Association with amny divisions, e.g. soccer, hockey. athlectics, tennis, ... 2. Choirs: men's, ladies# and children's choirs, church choirs and mixed choirs 3. Marching bands offer regular concerts, perform at local and regional festivities and provide extensive training for young people aspiring to master the musical instruments. 4. Church youth and adult groups cover all ages and both sexes. Examples are KJG, KFD. 5. Special interest clubs exist for dog owners, poultry, chess, the preservation of historical monuments (especially the St Georges Chapel), photography, ...

The major festivities in Heidesheim are

1. the Erntedankfest (Thanksgiving) celebrated on the first weekend in October with a major parade, an exhibition of fruits and agricultural products and the visits from twin towns in France and Germany.

2. the parish fair, celebrated on the first weekend in May
