I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!
Since you are releasing your photos into the public domain (which is great; I do so with mine too), you could consider adding them to the Wikimedia Commons instead of to just the English Wikipedia. The difference is that Wikipedias and other Wikimedia Foundation projects in any language can use images from the commons.
Also, please explain on the page of each image exactly what it shows. I know that the lighthouse picture is of the one at Cape Reinga, but most people won't know that.-gadfium 20:11, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- To get a picture deleted that you uploaded yourself, put {{db-author}} on it. It may take a few days before someone gets around to it.-gadfium 23:05, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cape Reinga
Hi! Thanks for adding your image to the article. However, as the article already had three images, and was getting a bit crowded with them, I moved your image to the specific Cape Reinga lighthouse article, and placed it there. Sorry for having to drop it all the way to the bottom under the infobox, but with the little text in the article, it would have looked strange either left or right aligned in the main text. Cheers and happy editing, and please DO feel encouraged to add other pictures. MadMaxDog 05:44, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Hedgehogmouse, please do NOT assume that you need to be cautious about editing 'other people's articles'. WP:BOLD and WP:OWN explicitly encourage you to do so. Seeing that you were a new editor, I did explain as good as I could why I removed it, because I don't want to discourage anyone. Create new articles or add/expand existing ones! There are few articles which couldn't be better (only some that are harder to make better than others). Images, however are a bit of a different thing, as, in the first place, this is an encyclopedia, not an image gallery, so its good to keep an eye on not swamping an article, especially not with similar photos. I do admit that on ocasions I have simply dived in and researched a lot of material or created new articles from the original justification of wanting to use an image i took ;-) So carry on, and we hope to have you here as an active contributor. If you have any question about anything, feel free to ask me. MadMaxDog 10:51, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
