[edit] Upper limit
The article said Superman's upper limit was shown when he destroyed the imprefect Doomsday clones. I don't think that's true, seeing that he previously used his heat vision to reheat the Earth. There's also never been any other time where he exhaust himself from using it and seeing that this took place in a crossover event, it's pretty obvious that it was just PIS.
[edit] Martian Vision
The Martian Manhunter has "Martian Vision" which while appearing similar, contrast heat vision as it is a microwave/kinetic beam.
[edit] "Lasers would damage corneas"
Removed the line:
- "Lasers would also damage corneas at levels far less than Superman uses."
Not only does it smack of original research, as Whitepaw noted in a prior edit, but it's a pointless statement; whether it's a laser or not, heat powerful enough to melt or weld metal would quite obviously destroy (not just "damage") a normal person's corneas. The sheer fact that Superman and other characters with heat vision (or something similar) use that ability on a regular basis without causing permanent damage to themselves indicate that their corneas are strong enough to withstand it (barring extreme cases, such as Superman's powers being forced out of control, or Hyperion being blinded by the "Flash vision" of his counterpart forced into his own eyes). -- Pennyforth 22:43, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] is it worth to mention Marvel's Cyclops?
would it be worth to mention Marvel's Cyclops( from the X-Men) and note the difference and similarities between his power and Superman's one? --TiagoTiago 23:00, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Heat vision2.jpg
Image:Heat vision2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Laser vision
These things you say lasers cannot do, such as evaporating ice or performing emergency welding - actually, lasers can do those things. The only thing that might make this power un-laser-like is his ability for the beams to become 45° wide instead of linear, but lasers all have varying degrees of spread after the beam waist. But a laser is in effect a targeted burst of heat/radiation - which can even be visible along its length, in several different colors.
