Talk:Hearts of Stone (Asbury Jukes)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am the one who provided the latest update. Considering that the subject is a record album, a degree of subjectivity can be expected. A completely 'neutral' entry would be rather bland.
With regard to possible copyright infringement, I believe that snippets of lyric fall under 'fair use'. I have attributed the proper copyrights to all lyric snippets.
I have removed the copyright and neutrality flags. I also wikified the article and removed that flag as well. I also cleanup up the formatting and removed that flag.
With regard to formality of tone, well, what is Wikipedia trying to be? Let's be honest, and album review is not your typical Encyclopedia Britannica entry. Does Wikipedia not want this type of entry at all? I think that some articles will not have a 'formal tone', and that should be alright. For now I will leave that flag in place, but this is my view.
With regard to citation of references, can somebody suggest what might be needed here? The article is my own original composition, and I do cite copyrights for the lyrics. Everything else is basically my own original thought. I do make reference to dropped contracts and poor sales, which are by and large generally known information, for which no immediate source or reference comes to mind. Is it necessary for me to find one and attach it here?
- Read some other Wikipedia articles on albums, and see if any of them look like this one. 64.12.116.196 11:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Example, please?
Voice of America (album) Born to Run Born in the U.S.A. The Unforgettable Fire The Joshua Tree Revolver (album)
and you are quoting way too many lyrics to be fair use. Just a snippet here and there.
Your opinion on 'fair use' sounds subjective to me. Please cite your references for "way too many".
See Wikipedia:Fair use. "Brief quotations". Your last two lyrics quotes look to be all or most of the song. Not brief. Not fair. Not good. 64.12.116.196 18:47, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
First verse and chorus, in both cases. Anyway, there are sites all over the web that contain complete lyrics. Some sites note the copyright, some don't. If the copyright holders are that concerned, why don't they have these sites shut down? I can't imagine the copyright holder being upset with this use of their lyrics, espcially since the copyright is noted.
I have cleaned up the tone and point of view. if there are any further complaints, let somebody else make more edits. I am done.
You did improve those aspects, credit where is it due. But still the article looks nothing like any other album article, you must surely see that. And still the lyrics are quoted too much, surely you must see that too. ("Don't call me Shirley!") You need to study wikipedia more before trying to write in it. Then you would see that what "all over the web" does is irreleveant to what wikipedia does. Wikipedia is very, very, very concerned about copyright issues. Very. 64.12.116.196 11:14, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
