[edit] Link to prosperity theology?

Is this basically the same thing as prosperity theology? If so, which one should redirect to the other, or which one is the most widely-used of the two? More work needs to be done to whichever article remains, however. - Jersyko talk 12:28, July 22, 2005 (UTC)

Or maybe both should be merged into Word of faith . . . - Jersyko talk 21:55, July 24, 2005 (UTC)

A careful clarification of the Tithes, and the prosperity gospels is expounded at length at the Grace website. Grace Website Used as a bible study, and input is left by visitors.

There's a plug for someone's website in the text.

Luke 6:20 -> It is the same as Matthew 5:3 -> Sermon on the mount -> Therefore, the poor refered in LK6:20 is refering to the poor in spirit

Matthew 19:24 -> Look at the context of this verse starting from verse 16. A self-righteousness boasted of keeping the law, therefore Jesus showed that you cannot keep the Law. So Jesus used the Law and pointed to the self-righteous man that no one can keep the law. This is consistent in the bible as Jesus always uses the Law when the Pharisees came to Him using the Law.

Ezekiel 16:49 -> Indeed helping the poor and needy is what we ought to do. When we put Jesus first, He will position us to be able to help the poor and needy.

James 2:5 -> Look at the context of this verse from chapter 2. The bible is telling us not to look at people based on their wealth but rather those that are rich in faith (ie. wealth and poor cannot be equated to faith). It has nothing to do with gaining wealth or prosperity.

One note of caution. Verses should always be quoted in the context of the original intention and not quoted to suit one's preference. God put verses at that particular spot for a reason. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.9.2 (talk) 11:41, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reformated

I broke up the original article and hopefully made it more clear. I added an internal link to the WOF article.  Gabriello  talk  16:47, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
