[edit] Dropping the apostrophe

Although it's grammatically incorrect, the actual title does not appear to include an apostrophe. MTV2.com refers to it as Headbangers Ball, as does Amazon.com in its merchandise (i.e., MTV2 Headbangers Ball). Also, on the highly unlikely side, "ball" could be meant as a verb so as to give the impression that headbangers are balling, thus eliminating the need for a possessive apostrophe. But, as I said, unlikely. Either way, the article's title should reflect the title given by the creators, grammatically correct or not. Anyone have any thoughts? Should we go ahead and move this to Headbangers Ball? Nufy8 17:56, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

Then with no objections, I shall go ahead and do so. Nufy8 19:48, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Headbangers Ball Redux Criticism

I think it should be further added that many criticize this Headbangers ball for being still very commercially oriented. They only play mainstream metalcore bands and big name, "sell-out" European bands e.g. Cradle of Filth, Children of Bodom. In the old days they played everything, hell I even saw them play the only Bathory video ever made followed by an interview with Qouthorn back in the 90's. "From the Cradle to Enslave" doesn't really count as being "non-mainstream."

[edit] Headbangers Ball History Criticism

MTV's Headbangers Ball from the start did not show equal amounts of Glam Rock & Heavy Metal. It mainly aired Metal videos, thus, how it received credibility from its fans because they showed videos from Slayer,Iron Maiden,Gothic Slam,etc... When Adam Curry left they were switching to the Glam Rock format(which is why I believe he left in the first place but don't quote me) and that's how alot of the faithful viewers, like myself, adopted the title,"HardRock Cafe". Rikki was great at interviews but he mainly sucked up to the Glam elite to push the "Metal"club that he owned at the time called The Cathouse.

[edit] No warning?

Much to the surprise of my cynical self at the time, there was plenty of warning that the Headbangers Ball was getting cancelled. They even had a big final episode, said goodbye, etc. This part of the article should changed. TJSwoboda (talk) 17:38, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
