[edit] Revert war

There appears to be a revert war in progress over the inclusion of the link to the HeadCase site. Wikipedia policy states that this should be discussed in the Talk page rather than fought over using the undo button. Eric343 (talk) 11:03, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

In the interest of allowing users of Head-Fi to find other places to go until Head-Fi comes up and until the issue of the Head-Case link inclusion is resolved, I am including a link to the Wikipedia Headphones page external links section. Eric343 (talk) 11:27, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Eric's fair and seemingly neutral action here. It does not matter whether the Head-Case site is commercial or not; the addition of the Head-Case link was shameless opportunistic advertising for personal interests. 12.11.149.5 (talk) 17:20, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't have any issues with including the Head-Case link -- it appears to be the largest headphone-only forum on the Internet besides Head-Fi. Though, in the interests of fairness it should have been accompanied by links to HeadWize, iPodStudio, and other alternative headphone forums. But Wikipedia policy discourages collections of links and this was the solution I felt best fit into the established rules.
In general, I feel it makes sense to tell the displaced users of Head-Fi about alternate forums. I remember back when Head-Fi was new on the scene and the HeadWize forums were down, I was incredibly grateful to the person that told me about the existence of the newly-formed Head-Fi. (For the record, I am no longer active in the headphone community.) Given this history, I'm a little surprised that the administrator(s) of Head-Fi haven't realized they could do a great favor to their users by linking to alternate forums from the main head-fi.org "Head-Fi is Down" page. [edit] Head-Case alternate forums

The Head-Case alternate forums are a non-commercial forum (whose administrators derive no benefit from mention on Wikipedia) where Head-Fi's users are waiting out the current Head-Fi outage, and it therefore makes sense to inform the readers of Wikipedia that this forum exists. Ironically, Head-Fi itself was originally founded as an alternate forum to the site HeadWize.org when the HeadWize forums went down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.187.1.13 (talk) 04:36, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I disagree with your comments here. There are plenty of other headphone forums that current head-fi refugees can use at this time. Pointing out Head-Case is not NPOV, regardless of whether or not it is a commercial site. Your statement regarding the Head-Fi-HeadWize history only serves to further strengthen suspicions of your personal agenda.12.11.149.5 (talk) 17:30, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
What issues do you have with Head-Case in particular? Based on your above comment, the name strikes a serious nerve for you. I took a brief look at the activity levels on the different forums, and Head-Case had significantly (~3x) more than the next largest forum (ipastudio.com). It seems like the most logical choice for an alternative.
Also, could you elaborate on where the Head-fi--HeadWize history comes into play w.r.t. personal agenda? I think it's something that everyone who was active during that time likely remembers very well; the parallels between it and the current situation are obvious to me as someone who was there. [edit] What makes Head-fi worse than other forums posted at Wikipedia?

No clear answer was given for the first deletion. Head-fi is a valid community who has had a tremendous impact on the headphone audiophile community. Much success of companies like Grado owe their success to this one website. Certainly it deserves to have its story posted here.

– Just a head-fier, who apparently isn't good enough for wikipedia.

[edit] Reviews section

Is there any reason to keep the section that lists the five most recent reviews in each category? It seems kind of extraneous to me. --Sabo 23:43, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

  • comment Agreed, I see no reason as well. Maybe change this to "several merit reviews from the forum"? --Wnmnkh 06:02, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] OK

I deleted several articles which can be considered as Vanispamcruftisement for admins of Wiki. I feel the above written by "Just a head-fier" is enough for explaining this situation.

Let's discuss about any fixes and adds for this article. Any ideas? --Wnmnkh 06:03, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

  • edit: If my action of deletions was wrong and offensive, I apologize deeply.
  • comment: Why don't we add on to the head-fi slogan section? We could give an explanation as to why our slogan is so and how it is a meme for the forum.--Footemps 06:14, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

From Head-fi to Head-Fi?

[edit] Anyone up for adding in something about the second national meet?

it's coming up in April. i don't know enough about it (see: i'm not going) to do a decent write-up. anyone care to do it? -Thelonious Monk schindleria.praematurus@gmail.com 03:59, 1 April 2007 (UTC) --Intermediate Jesus

[edit] Speakers

Head-Fi, is only dedicated to headphones. Which is the counterpart forum dedicated to desktop speakers or speakers in general? I think the information would be helpful to many people like me, and should also be listed in the related section 122.162.138.159 04:37, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

AudioAsylum and AudioKarma have as far as I know a smaller user baser and are not on Wikipedia. There is, however, a speakers sub-forum on head-fi. Perhaps we could make that fact clearer in the article that head-fi also covers speakers and have an active FS/FT subforum as well. Dept of Alchemy 10:27, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
