[edit] Summary

Looking east along the two bores of the Airside Road Tunnel, from the west portal. The photo was taken along the line of the wall dividing the eastbound tunnel (brightly lit, on the left) from the westbound (dimly lit, on the right). The dividing wall holds up the aircraft stand that sits above the west portal structure.

Photo taken in December 2004, during final site tests. All the lights happened to be on in the eastbound tunnel, as a soak test for the lamps in the entry zone lighting.

The rectangular cut and cover section shown here is 60 metres long, beyond that is the pair of bored tunnels (8.1 m internal diameter). The westbound tunnel turns out of sight about 250 metres away from the camera lens.
