[edit] History
Twenty-two year old Dave Sabick from Duluth, Minnesota founded Heavy On Wrestling in 2007 in order to support a variety of causes in the Midwest area of the United States, as well as to provide an additional venue for lesser-known wrestlers to compete, perform, and train in the hope that they may some day be scouted and hired by a major TV promotion.[2]
The promotion held its first live event on July 21, 2007 at the Wessman Arena in Superior, Wisconsin and featured Christy Hemme, Nora Greenwald (Molly Holly), "Wild" Bill Irwin, and Baron Von Raschke. [3] The event drew in some 500 spectators and Sabick donated ten percent of the night's proceeds to a local youth wrestling program.[4]
Heavy On Wrestling held its second live event on November 17, 2007 at the Duluth Skydome. The show featured Christy Hemme, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Rikishi among several other independent wrestlers. [5]
The Promotion will hold its third event June 14, 2008 and will tentatively feature Nick Dinsmore, Terry Funk, Lacey Von Erich, and The Honky Tonk Man.
