[edit] Plot

Ex-Homicide detective Dave Robicheaux lives a quiet life in the swamplands of Louisiana with his wife Annie. His tranquility is shattered one day when the couple stumbles upon a drug smuggler's airplane crash in the bayou. Dave succeeds in rescuing a lone survivor, an El Salvadoran girl, whom Dave takes with him. With the arrival of the DEA and an inherent connection to Bubba Rocque, the leading pharmaceutical drug kingpin in the area and Dave's childhood friend, Dave finds himself and his family in danger.
