The station is located at the western end of the Heatherdale Road level crossing.

[edit] Facilities

The station consists of two side platforms. Platform 1 contains a customer service office, a stainless steel seating area and toilet facilities, all under the cover of a steel and glass roof. Platform 2 contains a stainless steel seating area under a similar roof. A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accepts notes and coins. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2.

Both platforms can be accessed via Heatherdale Road.

There are three separate car parking areas that serve Heatherdale station. One is just to the north of platform 2 and is accessible from Heatherdale Road. A second area beside the railway line on the eastern side of Heatherdale Road, stretching towards the new Eastlink Tollway has been redeveloped as part of the Eastlink project. The Heatherdale Road entrance will no longer serve as an exit but a new section has been added between the railway and Maroondah Highway and will provide the exit and a new entrance. A third parking area surrounds the power transmission pylons on Molan Street.

[edit] History

Heatherdale station originally opened on Sunday, 7th September 1958.

[edit] Station redevelopment

As part of the EastLink tollway project, Heatherdale station along with three others along the freeway has been upgraded. The works are being funded by ConnectEast. Upgrades to Heatherdale Station will include extra parking spaces, upgraded lighting and security measures, a new pedestrian crossing at Heatherdale Road and construction of new station buildings. The original station buildings have now been demolished and the new buildings are now complete. New lighting and signage has also been installed along the platforms.
