A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Heather was born on February 2, 1977 and is the youngest child born into Trotter family. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Oakwood College with a degree in English Language Arts Education.
She sings alto and tenor with Virtue.[citation needed]

Heather joined the group Virtue in July 1999 after the departure of Shavonne Sampson.
