Heathcote Community

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heathcote Community is a medium sized intentional community located in rural Maryland, USA, about 30 miles north of Baltimore, Maryland.

Heathcote, situated on a 44 acre community land trust next to a 68 acre plot owned by some of its members, had a total of about 20 adult and child members as of 2006.

The meals at Heathcote are organic and vegetarian. The community also has a permaculture focus [1] and is currently being re-created as a permaculture demonstration site.

While Heathcote as a whole does not practice income-sharing, a group of its members have formed the Shantagani Income-Sharing Pod [2], and Shantagani is a Community in Dialog (CID) [3] of the Federation of Egalitarian Communities (FEC) [4]. Heathcote is a member of the School of Living Community Land Trust.
