Heartland is a Canadian television drama series, which debuted on CBC Television on October 14, 2007. The series is based on the Heartland books by Lauren Brooke.

On March 7th 2008 CBC announced the show will return for a second season. [1]

In its series premiere, Heartland beat out Global's comedy Da Kink in My Hair with 513,000 viewers in a battle of two new series'.[2] After four episodes, Heartland had an average viewership of 464,000.[3] In its first season finale, Heartland attracted 625,000 viewers.[4]
