Header Check Sequence

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Header Sequence Number is basically a CRC of the MAC header. It shall be the remainder of the division (modulo 2) by the generator polynomial multiplied by the content of the header excluding the HCS field.

The HCS can be a byte long (as in Wimax)[1] or 16 bit for cable modems.[2]
