[edit] Spammer blog
If you say that the same link went to a bunch of other articles, I'll take your word for it that it's more or less spam. I think this link could legitimately go the song in question, plus to George Jones, and that's about it. If there's an article called Greatest Country Song of All Time, then it could go there as well, hehe. So, I'll let it stay deleted. Hayford Peirce 03:40, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Apology
Dear Friends,
I am not a spammer. I am a real live country music lover and professor of history at McLennan Community College. I respectfully request that you consider this post from my blog as an addition to this link (and any other appropriate link): http://bosqueboys.com/index.php?itemid=34

PS I apologize for violating the protocol in adding this link without prior consultation. Ignorance of the law is no excuse; therefore I ask for grace rather than justice.
- I don't think you have anything to apologize about -- not everyone (including me) knows all the recondite protocols of Wiki. And even those who do, argue vehemently about them. I myself still think that as a stand-alone link yours is perfectly legitimate and should be there. Ditto chez George Jones. And, given what you have said above, it's likely that the other article links are legit also. I know that in my own case, I once wrote a paragraph about Jack Kramer (tennis player)'s choice of the 21 best tennis players of all time (as of 1979) and eventually put the same paragraph (and footnote) into at least 25 or 30 different articles. So, just because a link can show up in more than 2 or 3 articles, doesn't mean that it isn't legitimate. Keep defending your point of view.... Hayford Peirce 04:06, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your support. So, in re "defending my point of view," what is my next step? My case in a nutshell is this: Wikipedia prides itself on a "meritocratic" approach. I ask that my contribution be judged on content rather than origin. Thanks again, Hayford Peirce, for your comments in support of my petition. Ashley
- One point of clarification: I did not add the same link to more than one article. I added individual links to several articles. For example, I added this link (Clooneyism: History Hollywood-style) to the George Clooney movie, Good Night and Good Luck, which I think offers several points that add to the discussion of the film in context of current poltics and the McCarthy era.
