Sharda Education Trust was set up in 1995 under the chairmanship of Shri Pradeep K. Gupta, who is also the managing trustee with other members who have business, industrial and educational interests. Brief profiles of the trustees are provided in the main document earlier.
The college functions under the guidance and policies of the trust and also statutory governing body set up as per the AICTE guidelines. The Governing Body have nominees representing AICTE, U.P. Technical University , in which the Principal of the college is Member Secretary.
The internal management policies of the institution are completely student centric and are administered by the Principal with the help of Dean Academic Affairs, Dean R&D, Dean Students' Welfare, Dean Human Resources & Institute Industry Interaction, Controller of Examination and Registrar, in addition to the Heads of the Departments.
[edit] NBA Accreditation
What is NBA Accreditation?
The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) aims to bring standards of some of the programmes offered in technical institute on par with programmes offered in instituitions offered across USA and Europe, by introducing a quality auditing system and establishing datum for measuring the quality and excellence in engineering education. The NBA will periodically conduct evaluation of technical institutions and Programs on the basis of guidelines, norms and standards.
The accreditation exercise is designed to be rigorous with several inputs such as quality of teaching, level of research, faculty expertise, evaluation of teachers, standard of infrastructure available in the campus, such as hostel facility, library, medical facility etc. These are taken into consideration in order to help the visiting accreditation team of txperts to have holistic approach and arrive at a rational evaluation.
Realising the value of accreditation, several institutions have volunteered to go through the rigorous process of audit, the uniqueness of the process is that the duration for which any program oe institutions will have to maintain the quality and standard, if they wish to retain the accredited standard.

Computer facilities
HCST has, besides the beautiful lush green campus with all modern amenities & facilities for the students, which aids the learning process. Some of the key features of the infrastructure are described below:
Computers, LAN and Software
The group recognizes the key role that IT plays in teaching as well as research. Therefore, it is committed to providing computing facilities of the highest standards. A high-speed optical fibre network allows all students to access a range of services across our campus including all computer labs. The computer labs house more than 500 Computer Systems.
The college has wide range of Software of Microsoft, SUN and Oracle platforms. Our labs are equipped with entire suite of Microsoft Product (Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, Visual Studio, NET Server, MS SQL Server-2000) under MSDN Academic Alliance Program besides UNIX, LINUX, Data bases (MS-SQL Server-2000, Oracle 9i), Tools (VB, VC++, VI, JDK1.2) etc.
Internet
The Labs are connected to the internet by a 2 Mbit/s leased line with ISDN backup, thereby providing unlimited internet access to students and faculty members. All the Offices, Labs, Cabins of faculty, and hostel rooms have been provided internet connectivity for 7 days a week & 18 hrs a day.

The central library has a floor area of 473 sq.m. It has 4,150 titles and 22,500 volumes which is likely to grow to 100,000 volumes in next 2 years. The college is subscribing to 125 journals and periodicals. The library remains open up to 12:00 night and opens at 09:00 in the morning.
The college is a member of Society of Engineer & Technicians, Society of Technical Education, Instrument Society of India, Computer Society of India.
The college runs a book bank scheme, in which the students who entoll as members by depositing a one time fee of Rs. 4,000/- are provided text books by the book bank for their entire stay in the college consisting of minimum 8 semesters.
Each department has its own separate sectional library for easy reference of faculty members and students during the day time.
Workshops and labs The college has very well equipped Workshop & Lab facilities and students are encouraged to acquire application skills and practically verify the knowledge in the class room. Various departments and programmes have their independent labs and workshops. HCST labs and workshops are amongst the best equipped in the country second only to the Govt. funded IIT's.
Well equipped laboratories exist for physics, chemistry, applied mechanics, fluid machanics, thermodynamics and IC engines, product & process development, material testing, R&D, advanced computation, CAD, CAM and are supervised by competent faculty members and instructors.
Engineering workshops have the latest machine tools, CNC machines, welding & fabrication facilities, pattern making and foundry etc. for mechanical engineering students. Electrical lab and workshop imparts training and practical testing of electrical motors and equipments.
